How to perform it
Step-by-step instructions
- 01Suspend both ends of a lightly loaded barbell from rated chains or straps in a power rack so the bar is level at your chosen bottom good-morning height.
- 02Duck beneath the stationary bar, secure it across the rear shoulders in a low-bar position, set your feet, soften your knees, and brace with a neutral spine.
- 03From the dead stop, drive your hips forward and extend through the glutes and hamstrings until you stand tall without overextending your lower back.
- 04Push your hips rearward and hinge forward under control, keeping the knees slightly bent and the bar balanced over your midfoot.
- 05Lower until the chains or straps fully support the bar, let it settle without bouncing, and rebuild your brace before beginning another repetition.
