How to perform it
Step-by-step instructions
- 01In a clear walking lane, use a wide comfortable grip to press or push-press a light barbell to locked arms overhead.
- 02Brace your trunk, keep the ribs down, and press actively into the bar so it remains stacked over your shoulders and midfoot.
- 03Step forward far enough to plant the whole lead foot, then lower the rear knee toward the floor while the front knee tracks over the toes.
- 04Keep the bar over your midline and torso upright as you drive through the front foot and bring the rear leg forward into the next stride.
- 05Continue with controlled alternating lunges, and stop to lower the bar safely if the elbows bend, the bar drifts, or your balance deteriorates.
