How to perform it
Step-by-step instructions
- 01Stand tall with the bar resting across the upper back, feet about shoulder width apart, and the neck neutral before you start bending.
- 02Brace the trunk and keep the pelvis level so the movement comes from controlled side bending rather than twisting or shifting the hips.
- 03Lean the torso slowly to one side through a pain-free range without rotating the chest or pitching forward.
- 04Use the obliques on the opposite side to bring the torso back to the upright center position under control.
- 05Repeat to the other side with the same range and tempo, and stop if the low back starts taking over the motion.
