How to perform it

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 01Stand tall holding one dumbbell in front of the working-side thigh, with the arm straight and your trunk braced.
  2. 02Lead with the elbow as you draw it upward and outward, keeping the dumbbell close to the front of your body.
  3. 03Raise only to a comfortable, pain-free height near the lower chest or shoulder line, with the wrist below the elbow.
  4. 04Pause briefly without leaning back, twisting, or forcefully shrugging the working shoulder toward your ear.
  5. 05Lower the dumbbell slowly to full arm extension, complete the repetitions, and then change sides.
