How to perform it

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 01Rest a light bar on the upper traps with a wide snatch grip, stand tall, and confirm that your shoulders can move overhead pain-free before pressing.
  2. 02Brace the trunk, keep the rib cage down, and start from a dead stop with no dip or help from the legs.
  3. 03Press the bar straight up from behind the neck while moving the head slightly out of the way so the bar can travel in a clean vertical path.
  4. 04Finish with locked elbows, active shoulders, and the bar balanced over the middle of the foot rather than drifting forward.
  5. 05Lower the bar carefully back to the upper traps and stop the set immediately if the neck or shoulders lose a comfortable position.
