How to perform it

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 01Check that the path behind you is clear, then take a low athletic stance with your hips back, knees bent, and chest lifted.
  2. 02Push backward through short, quick steps while staying light on the front half of your feet.
  3. 03Pump your arms naturally and keep your feet parallel rather than crossing them as you travel.
  4. 04Maintain a low, balanced position and glance over a shoulder as needed without twisting your entire body.
  5. 05Reduce your stride frequency gradually to decelerate under control before stopping or changing direction.
