How to perform it

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 01Lie on a flat bench with your eyes under the bar, set your shoulder blades against the pad, and use a spotter or safeties for the unrack.
  2. 02Hold the bar above your shoulders, extend both legs straight in front of the bench with the feet off the floor, and keep your glutes on the pad.
  3. 03Brace your trunk and lower the bar under control toward the lower chest, keeping the forearms vertical and the unsupported legs motionless.
  4. 04Touch the chest lightly without bouncing, then press the bar up and slightly back to straight arms using no leg drive.
  5. 05Stabilize the bar over the shoulders while maintaining your upper-back position, then guide it into the rack before lowering your legs.
