How to perform it

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 01Take the bar with an overhand grip, hinge forward about 30 to 45 degrees, and keep the chest up with the knees softly bent.
  2. 02Brace the trunk and let the bar hang close to the thighs or knees while maintaining the shallower torso angle of a Yates-style row.
  3. 03Row the bar into the lower abdomen by driving the elbows back close to the body rather than flaring them wide.
  4. 04Pause briefly at the top without standing taller, jerking the weight, or shrugging the shoulders toward the ears.
  5. 05Lower the bar to straight arms under control and hold the same hinge position before starting the next rep.
